Before and after – the improved learning environment for children at Mwanzo Mgumu Primary School in Tanzania is a lesson in what can be achieved through teamwork. Students at Imberhorne School in East Grinstead partnered with Meeting Needs to raise the cash to change things for these Tanzanian youngsters via Champion Chanzige, a dynamic, small charity set up by Philippa Jacobs 10 years ago, after she took a holiday there.

Philippa takes up the story: “We were delighted to arrange a visit for twelve secondary school students from Imberhorne School and three of their teachers. They had agreed to fundraise for the charity prior to their trip and, as a charity, we decided that it would be really valuable if they could see what a difference their fundraising had made. With some help from Meeting Needs they managed to raise enough money to completely transform three classrooms at

Mwanzo Mgumu Primary School. The before and after photos speak for themselves. We are so proud of the Imberhorne students for really making a difference to the learning environment at Mwanzo Mgumu.”
