When the invitation arrived to visit the Community Grubhub in Aldershot – one of the many organisations Meeting Needs has supported – two of our trustees were keen to see for themselves how the money gets spent and how the project is managed. Kate Conway and Mags Shaw jumped at the chance and were seriously impressed. Kate said: “We have been overwhelmed by everything that we’ve seen taking place within the hub”.
In the first week of September, 1460 KG of food were received by Community Grubhub and 1418KGs distributed to those in need – around 7.2 KGs per visitor!
Mags said: “We’ve been so impressed by hearing how it works because it’s a mammoth operation. There are over 70 volunteers here that keep this flowing and by every Monday they have to get everything organised to open on each Tuesday when they get more than 200 visitors arriving to be watered and to be fed and looked after. It’s much bigger than just a community hub, it’s phenomenal. The services that they offer are an extension to the community hub. We are delighted that it was us who were chosen to come down here today to meet with Annette, Noelle and the team.”
