Event industry charity foundation Meeting Needs is to fund the completion of important infrastructure work for a primary school in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, to improve facilities for both children and teachers.
The work includes new classrooms and better accommodation for teachers at Break Fast School and will be finished with a grant of just £4797. This will also mean more teachers can be recruited. The current situation sees classrooms overcrowded and teachers residing in dilapidated housing two kilometres away from the school without water and toilet facilities. In addition to the new classroom block, the project will renovate teachers´ cottages and provide ablution facilities.
The work will be undertaken in partnership with the Jafuta Foundation, an organisation Meeting Needs has supported for many years.
Jafuta Outreach Director Sipho Moyo said: “This initiative not only enhances the learning environment for students but also prioritizes the well-being and dignity of educators. By investing in education infrastructure, the project aims to uplift the community and fosters a conducive environment for holistic learning and development.”
