Event industry foundation Meeting Needs has increased a donation from £1,221  to £5,000 after an initial fundraising effort by the event industry Fast Forward University Challenge.

The £5,000 is to support Ella’s Crisis Fund, which provides vital grants, vouchers and small loans to the abused women they support. Ella’s provides independent, long-term aftercare for women who have experienced abuse through trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The Crisis Fund covers a wide range of urgent essentials that are otherwise beyond reach. This includes food and baby formula, warm clothing, travel costs for hospital appointments or legal hearings, replacement ID documents, school uniforms, and emergency accommodation or bedding. These relatively small amounts of money can make an enormous difference — helping women avoid hunger, stay safe, and focus on their recovery and future. The Crisis Fund can help prevent women and their children from falling back into poverty, abuse, or homelessness, and helps them maintain the progress they have made in recovery.

The stress of being unable to afford essentials like food, clothing, and heating has made it harder for them to engage with training, education, or work — vital steps on the road to independence.

A grant of £5,000 will ensure women receive timely financial help when they need it most — enabling them to meet their basic needs, recover from trauma, and move forward with dignity, stability, and hope.
