Event industry foundation Meeting Needs has agreed a donation of £5000 to Edgar’s Gift – a charity that operates in the East Midlands of England that provides gifts, holidays and experiences to young adults suffering with cancer.

Founded and run by family and friends of Ben Edkins, who died of cancer in 2010, it is an entirely volunteer-run organisation so that all funds raised by the charity go to young cancer patients. Edgar’s Gift raises money to provide special days out, unique experiences and luxury gifts for young adults aged 18-30 who are suffering from cancer.

Their fundraisers organise events from quiz nights, raffles and sponsored walks all the way up to football matches featuring ‘Legends’ of years gone by.  Gift values are capped at £450 so £5,000 will enable the provision of a minimum 11 gifts to young adults with cancer.

“The purchasing power of our donation is clearly defined and the benefits delivered are easily measured”, said Meeting Needs chair Lene Corgan. “It is a wonderful project that ensures their money goes directly to the patients they want to reach. It is exactly the kind of charity we love to work with.”
