Laura Yarbrough-Lloyd, Leeds-based event freelancer and event career coach at Laura Lloyd Events,  is no stranger to half marathons and in this series of spotlights on our runners and walkers, she tells us what persuaded her to join our team in support of Meeting Needs.

She says: “I’m an avid runner, and from the time I did my first ever race (a half marathon), I was hooked! It’s been a while since I’ve properly trained for any race, so I’m enjoying the process, my progress, and sharing updates with our Meeting Needs group. I’ve only been living in the UK a few years, and the event community is so welcoming, so how could I say no when I saw an opportunity to race for a good cause with my peers?

“What draws me to Meeting Needs, besides the fact that it’s led by others in the event industry, is the focus on small charities which can often be overlooked .

“Any day that combines running, event industry professionals and charity sounds like a fantastic day to me. I’m excited to get back into a distance that means so much to me, this time with a group, and find ways to fundraise. Working in events, you learn how to be creative to reach people so I’ll plan things like dinner parties and raffles for free services to raise awareness and funds.”
