Over one hundred and fifty leading event professionals enjoyed an evening of quality acts at the inaugural Events R Talented audition evening held at Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden on Tuesday 20th November. This new event is designed to showcase talent from within the events industry and all to raise money for the industry charity Meeting Needs. The audience were treated to a gymnastic performance, a comedy and dance act as well as range of singers and bands.

Each act performing on the night had the chance to win through to the semi finals to be held at the EVCOM Awards luncheon on 30th November. The winning three acts are Elizabeth Murphy from The Big Easy, Sunday Replay headed up by David Kemsley of Avenue Events and Becky Payne of Park Plaza Hotels. The winning act at EVCOM will then go on to perform at the 2019 Awards Dinner.

The fun packed evening saw guests networking, having fun and via the auction and raffle raising lots of money for a specific cause nominated by Meeting Needs.

On the night, the Events R Talented Team had a target to raise £3,000 With the support of so many industry professionals they smashed that figure and reached an amazing total of £5,610!

The charity to benefit is the Starfish Greatheart Foundation. A fantastic organisation that supports children in rural Africa affected by HIV and Aids. The funds will benefit their wellness programme including the Starfish Mobile clinics. The charity currently supports 5000 children but many more need help and the funds raised will go some way to doing that.

Ken Findlay representing the Events R Talented Team said “What a fantastic evening and thank you to our acts, those kind people and organisations that donated prizes and all those in the industry who braved a wet and miserable night to come along and raise so much money for such a great cause. Matt, Graeme, Paul and myself cannot believe how much support we received and to almost double our initial target shows to everyone what a great industry we all are delighted to be part of!”

Also commenting, Lene Corgan of Meeting Needs said “What a great initiative and what a fantastic night showcasing some of the incredible talents in our industry. Thank you to Chew Events, Sandals and One night Only for putting this together and choosing to raise funds for Meeting Needs and Starfish Greathearts Foundation. An amazing fundraising result – thank you to everyone who performed, supported and donated, wonderful to see our industry coming together to change lives.
