Katie Lowe, of Amex GBT Meetings & Events, says she isn`t a runner. In the latest in our series featuring our runners and walkers in The Royal Parks Half Marathon, she explains why her training for the run looks golden.
“After seeing Hannah Kelly and the Meeting Needs team on the run course of the RPHM in 2023, I knew straight away that I wanted to be involved in this amazing charity in 2024. I love how our industry is so fiercely loyal when it comes to charitable giving, and I want to support the work that MN is doing to make such a difference to small charities.
“This is also my ‘just do it’ year. In April I started a new job with Amex GBT and when a colleague mentioned the Royal Parks Half I thought ‘why not, I can do that again’ (after vowing ‘never again’ after going over the finish line in 2023!)
“In all honesty – I’m really nervous! I’m not a runner, I’ve never been good at running and I am sure that even after a summer of training, I still won’t be good at running. BUT I want to continue to challenge myself, so I’m hoping to do a sub-2 hour race this year. All my training will be done with my trusty running partner, my golden Labrador, Finley – he’s the real star of any show!”
